After 20 years climbing the career ladder Bruce faced an unexpected hurdle that forever altered his life. Diagnosed with an inner ear bone degeneration Bruce was no longer able to work the way he did in the past. Now, with the support of Easter Seals UCP Employment Services Bruce is rediscovering his independence and a new sense of satisfaction.

RJ Mitte visiting Charlotte group home residents

RJ Mitte, an actor best known for his role as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on the AMC series Breaking Bad, was in Charlotte a few weeks ago to meet with fans and perform improve with a local high school drama team. Mitte, who lives with mild cerebral palsy, uses his celebrity to promote awareness of people with disabilities and is a strong advocate for anti-bullying campaigns.

Several Charlotte area companies volunteered their time during the Easter Seals UCP Spring into Action week of service at the Easter Seals UCP Irwin and Carol Belk Children’s Center.  Sam’s Club of Pineville, Amway and Acosta Sales and Marketing each selected a day to paint walls, plant flowers, plant a garden and organize classrooms. Lowes Home Improvement on Iverson Way in Charlotte donated all the primer, paint and painting supplies needed to paint the hallways of the Children’s Center.

Luanne Welch Named President and CEO of Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia, Inc.

RALEIGH, N.C.  - - The Easter Seals UCP board of directors announced today that Luanne K. Welch has been named president and CEO of Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia. Welch comes to the affiliate from Easter Seals South Florida where she served as president and CEO.
