Matthew’s Story
Eleven-year-old Matthew is deaf and blind with a severely compromised adrenal system but has aspirations to do great things! A little over a year ago, Matthew wanted to play piano, and Easter Seals UCP was able to help Matthew and his family work toward this aspiration. Little did we know there was a composer in our midst! Last year, Matthew composed his first piece of music, a composition that depicted his longing for the City of God where he would no longer be bound by the prison of illness. Matthew’s music has since been performed a number of times, and we at Easter Seals UCP have received thanks from Matthew’s mom, who said, "I wanted to thank you for your very kind care of us, and especially your tenderness to Matthew in making sure his voice is heard.”
Listen to Matthew's composition, City of God, or read the lyrics, The Song of My Music.
