Children’s Centers

General Info

Easter Seals UCP operates nine inclusive children's centers throughout North Carolina. Each center provides age-appropriate educational activities and childcare.  Most centers provide specialized services including speech, occupational and physical therapies.  Easter Seals UCP's children's centers support children with and without disabilities; children without disabilities make up about 50% of each center's enrollment. The centers serve children on a 12-month basis and prepare them for entry into the public school system.  Several of the centers operate More at Four classrooms for eligible children.

Professional Info

Easter Seals UCP Children’s Centers are inclusive, serving children from birth through age 5, with or without developmental risks or delays. All centers design and/or implement an appropriate curriculum, maintain compliance with Childcare Regulations, and follow early childhood environment guidelines as described in the ITERS-R and ECERS-R scales. Pediatric Therapies (PT, OT, and Speech) in most cases are provided on site to children eligible for the service. Teachers and teaching assistants must have the NC Early Childhood Credential (or equivalent). The Director and Educational Coordinator must have a four-year degree or higher, preferably in Early Childhood Education, Birth-Kindergarten, Child Development, or related human services field. At minimum, a Teacher must have a four-year degree in a human services field or an Associate degree in a human services field with 2 years experience with the population.
