Early Childhood Outreach

General Info

Early Childhood Outreach supports children with special needs, typically aged 0-3 years old, in licensed community childcare facilities, at home with their families or within the community.  Child and family specialists provide developmental therapies to the child, as well as training and technical assistance to the child's caregiver.  The focus centers around helping children with special needs meet developmental milestones and supporting caregivers to engage children with special needs in an inclusive environment.

Easter Seals UCP Early Childhood Outreach Services may include the following for the 0-5 population: Early Intervention (remediating existing developmental delays or preventing their occurrence), Pediatric therapies (P T, OT, Speech), as well as Inclusion, Infant Mental Health and /or Behavioral Intervention, Training, and Special Education and related services. All staff, at minimum, must have a four-year degree in Early Childhood Education, Birth-Kindergarten, Child Development, or related Human Services field, and must have, or be working toward Infant-Toddler and Family Specialist Certification within 3 years of employment. Annual renewal of B-K and ITFS Certification requires 30 contact hours of appropriate training. Early Childhood Specialists and Therapists deliver services to children and their families in the home, at childcare or preschool, or within community settings natural to the family.
