Early Intervention provides services to infants and toddlers who have disabilities or developmental delays. Early intervention promotes the development of the child while building the strengths of the family. Services are provided by qualified educators who are experienced in working with young children with special needs, helping families incorporate developmental practices into their daily routines, and assisting families in locating needed resources in their community.
A variety of agencies work in collaboration to deliver early intervention services to infants and toddlers in Virginia. All children referred for early intervention services in the Roanoke Valley receive an initial intake and eligibility determination from Infant and Toddler Connection of the Roanoke Valley (ITC-RV). ITC-RV contracts with ESUCP Virginia to provide early intervention service coordination and developmental services for infant and toddlers who qualify for services. Central points of entry for early intervention service across the state can be found at www.infantva.org.
